Hello! This is the Galaxy Store Seller Portal team.
Thank you for using Seller Portal and for your continued interest.

When registering in-app items using Seller Portal, item types will be categorized as consumable or

non-consumable through the end of 2025.

Starting from January 2026, the consumability of newly registered items will be determined based on the method

called after purchase.

Fixing the item type (consumable or non-consumable) during registration reduces development flexibility and may cause

compatibility issues when importing item information from the Play Store. To address this, starting in January 2026,

the consumability of an item will be determined by the method called upon purchase.

■ Effective Date : January 2026

■ Implementation Details
The consumability of items will be determined based on the method called when an in-app item purchase occurs.
ㆍ For items defined as consumable, when a purchase is made, calling the consumePurchasedItems API

to process consumption allows users to repurchase the item.
ㆍ For items defined as non-consumable, when a purchase is made, calling the acknowledgePurchases API

to finalize the purchase means users cannot repurchase the item but can use it indefinitely without an expiration

    date.

■ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. Will the type of existing registered in-app items (consumable or non-consumable) change based on the method called after purchase?

A1. Starting from July 2025, Galaxy Store has already been supporting in-app item registration as follows:
For existing consumable items, if the acknowledgePurchases API is called after purchase, they function as non-consumable, allowing indefinite use without an expiration date and preventing repurchase. If the consumePurchasedItems API is called after purchasing an item registered as non-consumable, an error occurs, and the purchase is not finalized.

Q2. From 2026, will the getIsConsumable() method, which checks if an item is consumable, no longer be available?

A2. The use of getIsConsumable() will no longer be supported.
Since in-app items will be registered without distinguishing between consumable and non-consumable, instead of calling getIsConsumable() in the app, the seller must decide if the registered item can be repurchased (consumable or non-consumable).

Q3. What happens if neither the consumePurchasedItems nor the acknowledgePurchases API is called after an in-app item is purchased?

A3. By default, the item will be treated as consumable. If the consumePurchasedItems API is not called, the user will not be able to repurchase the in-app item they bought.
