Dear Seller,
This is Galaxy Store Seller Portal Team.


In accordance with a new regulation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the payment method for subscriptions provided by Samsung Galaxy Store to your customers in India has been updated.


Currently, auto-recurring subscriptions are automatically renewed at the end of a subscription period or payment cycle. After October 1, 2021, auto-recurring subscriptions for your customers in India will no longer be supported. Instead, these customers must consent to renew a subscription before the end of every subscription period. 


If you are using Samsung In-App Purchase (IAP), you do not have to do anything to continue providing subscription services in India. Starting October 1, 2021, customers in India who purchase or have purchased a subscription item will automatically receive an email notification to renew their subscription. This email notification is sent seven (7) days before the end of the subscription period and describes the steps required by the customer to renew their subscription.


If you are using another payment service provider for your subscription items, you must consult with this payment service provider about the changes you need to make to comply with the new regulation. You may want to update your app to remind customers to renew their subscription before the end of the subscription period.

 Q. Do I need to modify my app to change the subscription method?

 A. If you are using Samsung IAP, you do not need to modify your app. Galaxy Store and Samsung IAP have been updated to comply with the new regulation. Your customers in India will automatically receive an email notification to renew their subscription.


Q. What if I use a payment service provider other than Samsung IAP?

A. All payment service providers are subject to the RBI regulation. Consult with your payment service provider to determine how to modify your app to comply with the new regulation. You may also want to consider how you remind your customers about renewing their subscription.
