Galaxy Store Sales Tax Remittance

For any purchase made in Galaxy Store, Galaxy Store automatically collects the sales tax or value added tax (VAT) from the user according to the tax laws of each country.

In this notice, “sales tax” is used to refer to both the sales tax and VAT.

Depending on the business model of a country, either the seller or Galaxy Store must remit the sales tax to the appropriate tax authority. This notice provides a brief description of the two business models (agent and commissionaire) and a list of agent countries where there is an exception to how the tax is remitted.

[Agent business model] The seller is responsible for sales tax remittance

- The seller is the merchant on record.
- Galaxy Store acts as an intermediary between the seller and user. The seller's content is sold directly to the user.
- Galaxy Store collects the sales tax from users.
- The collected sales tax is included in the payment to the seller. Galaxy Store only receives brokerage fees. However, in some agent
countries, the collected sales tax is not included in the payment to the seller because Galaxy Store must remit the sales tax on their behalf
(see “Exceptions to the agent business model” below).
- The seller declares and remits the sales tax (except where Galaxy Store must remit the sales tax on the seller’s behalf, see
“Exceptions to the agent business model” below).
- In the settlement report spreadsheet, the sales tax remitted by Galaxy Store is displayed in column O (USD) and column T (KRW).
For most agent countries, this will be 0 (zero). In some agent countries, Galaxy Store must remit the sales tax on the seller’s behalf
(see “Exceptions to the agent business model” below).

[Commissionaire business model] Galaxy Store is responsible for sales tax remittance

- Galaxy Store is the merchant on record.
- Galaxy Store acts as a consignment agency. Galaxy Store buys and sells the seller's content.
- Galaxy Store collects the sales tax from users.
- The collected sales tax is not included in the payment to the seller.
- Galaxy Store declares and remits the sales tax.
- In the settlement report spreadsheet, the sales tax remitted by Galaxy Store is displayed in column O (USD) and column T (KRW).

For a list of countries and their associated business model, refer to Article 20, Paragraph 1 of the Terms and Conditions.

Exceptions to the agent business model

In certain agent countries, an intermediary (Galaxy Store) must remit the sales tax on the seller's behalf. For these countries, the collected sales tax is not included in the payment to the seller. Instead, the collected sales tax is remitted to the appropriate tax authority. In the settlement report spreadsheet, the sales tax remitted by Galaxy Store is displayed in column O (USD) and column T (KRW).
Listed below are the agent countries where Galaxy Store declares and remits the sales tax on behalf of the seller (remits by proxy).

Countries where Galaxy Store remits by proxy (`22. Oct.)

※ The list of countries may change based on updates to the tax law of each country.
